Dr. Alaa Abd-El-Aziz assumed his responsibilities as the sixth President and Vice-chancellor of the University of Prince Edward Island on July 1, 2011. Dr. Abd-El-Aziz received his BSc and MSc degrees from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, and his PhD from the University of Saskatchewan.

Economic Development Officer, City of Charlottetown
Ron Atkinson is the Economic Development Officer for the City of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He is a graduate of Acadia University, Wolfville, N.S. and before his position with the City of Charlottetown, he spent 16 years in the private sector in varied positions in the aerospace, chemical manufacturing, and food service industries.

Natural Health Products Program Leader, National Research Council of Canada
Along with being a Researcher for Aquatic and Crop Resource Development at the National Research Council Canada, Dr. Chapman also leads NRC’s national program on Natural Health Products. Dr. Chapman joined NRC in 2005 from Predicant Biosciences in San Francisco, California, where he served as Senior Scientist.

Vice President, ACOA Prince Edward Island and Tourism, Chair of the Prince Edward Island Federal Regional Council
Patrick Dorsey was appointed Vice President, ACOA Prince Edward Island and Tourism in 2007. He is also Chair of the Prince Edward Island Federal Regional Council. Before joining ACOA in 2007, Mr. Dorsey worked in leadership roles with the Government of Prince Edward Island, including Senior Policy Advisor to the premier for seven years.

Associate Director Research, Development and Technology Transfer (ADRDT) AAFC - Science and Technology Branch (STB)
Mark Grimmett was appointed as the Associate Director Research, Development and Technology Transfer for the Charlottetown Research and Development Centre in September 2016.  Prior to this, he worked as an Analytical Chemist operating the AAFC Regional Analytical Laboratory in Charlottetown.

Mr. Keefe has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from UPEI, a Bachelor of Laws and Masters of Business Administration degrees from Dalhousie University, and is a member of the Canadian and Prince Edward Island Institutes of Chartered Accountants.

Juergen Krause earned his Masters degree in Chemistry and his PhD degree in Biochemistry from the University of Konstanz, Germany and performed his postdoctoral studies at the University of Chicago, Illinois. Before moving into education, he spent 22 years in the Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical industry.

Dr. Brian McMillan is the President and CEO of Holland College on Prince Edward Island. The College offers is home to over 2,600 full-time and 4,000 part-time students in several locations across the Island.

Vice President of Research
Dr. Debbie Plouffe is the Vice President of Research for the Center for Aquaculture Technologies Canada (CATC).  Dr. Plouffe is a molecular and cell biologist with a strong background in fish immunology and fish health. She received her undergraduate (1999) and doctoral (2005) degrees from the University of Alberta in Edmonton and held a post-doctoral fellowship at the NRC in Halifax for two years where she developed DNA-vaccines for Atlantic salmon.

Mr. Stewart began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Toronto in 1994 and returned to Prince Edward Island with the firm in 1997. Mr. Stewart joined Innovation PEI in 1999, serving as a Financial Analyst and then Director of Financial and Immigration Services.

Barry Stickings was born in 1943, in London, England. He is a graduate in chemistry of Keble College, Oxford. He was awarded a CBE in 2004 for services to the chemical industry.

Director Aqua Vaccines R&D, Elanco Canada Ltd.
Lincoln is Director of Elanco’s Aqua Vaccines R&D site at Victoria, Prince Edward Island. His role at the site is to deliver a pipeline of safe, effective and innovative vaccines for aquaculture. He leads multidisciplinary teams of molecular biologists, analytical scientists, fermentation and formulation experts, clinical scientists and veterinarians who work alongside customers and industry stakeholders to develop new products.
