Dr. Brian McMillan, Treasurer
(President and CEO, Holland College, Prince Edward Island)


Dr. Brian McMillan is the President and CEO of Holland College on Prince Edward Island. The College offers is home to over 2,600 full-time and 4,000 part-time students in several locations across the Island. Prior to his Presidency in 2005, Dr. McMillan was Vice-President of Program Operations at the College. Before arriving there in 1997, Dr. McMillan was employed in several capacities as an educator and psychologist, including teacher and school psychologist; as a Specialist in Behavior Disorders with the Edmonton Public School Board; as Superintendent for Administration and Programs in the PEI Unit 3 School Board; and as Associate Professor and Department Head in Mount Allison’s Faculty of Education.

Currently, Dr. MacMillan is a Director and Past Chair of Junior Achievement on Prince Edward Island; a Director on the Board of Governors of the PEI Business Hall of Fame; and Chair of the Atlantic Provinces Community College Consortium (APCCC). He continues his love of teaching in his role as Adjunct Professor with the Faculty of Education at UPEI.

In his research, Dr. McMillan’s interests have focused on adults with learning disabilities, enterprise education, and teacher and faculty assessments as they pertain to teaching.

Dr. McMillan received a B.A. and B.Ed from Mount Allison University in New Brunswick. He completed his post-graduate work at the University of Alberta, receiving an M.Ed in Counselling Psychology in 1979. In 1984 he completed his doctoral work and received his Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Alberta.
