(Associate Director Research, Development and Technology Transfer (ADRDT) AAFC - Science and Technology Branch (STB))
Mark Grimmett was appointed as the Associate Director Research, Development and Technology Transfer for the Charlottetown Research and Development Centre in September 2016. Prior to this, he worked as an Analytical Chemist operating the AAFC Regional Analytical Laboratory in Charlottetown.
Mark began his post-secondary education at the University of Prince Edward Island where he completed a BSc. in biology with full tuition scholarship. During his final year at UPEI (1996), he accepted an Industrial NSERC scholarship at Memorial University in Newfoundland to complete a Master’s project working with industrial partner Corner Brook Pulp and Paper on seasonal variations in pulp and paper extracts and their contribution to paper quality. While finishing his Master’s degree, Mark started working for AAFC as a general labourer (1999) and then later as a technician (1999-2001). In 2001, he was hired as an analytical chemist with AAFC. He actively collaborated on several Agro-Ecosystem Productivity and Health projects in the areas of soil and water quality and nutrient management.
When not at work, he is spending time with his wife and daughter in Charlottetown or pursuing one of his many hobbies that include: cycling, skiing, camping, and carpentry.
