Ron Atkinson
(Economic Development Officer, City of Charlottetown)


Ron Atkinson is the Economic Development Officer for the City of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He is a graduate of Acadia University, Wolfville, N.S. and before his position with the City of Charlottetown, he spent 16 years in the private sector in varied positions in the aerospace, chemical manufacturing, and food service industries.

Mr. Atkinson’s position involves work in a broad spectrum of economic development activities in the province’s capital city including tax incentive management, downtown revitalization, property development, business attraction and retention, infrastructure planning, marketing, and working with the sports, arts & culture and tourism industries.

He has served as a member of the board of directors of several organizations in the city including the Charlottetown Harbour Authority Inc, Charlottetown Area Recreation Inc, and the Charlottetown Civic Centre; he also serves on several organizations as an ex-officio member including the PEI BioAlliance, Charlottetown Area Development Corporation, Tourism Charlottetown Inc, PEI Association for Newcomers to Canada, Charlottetown Airport Authority, and Downtown Charlottetown Inc..
