PEI student takes top honours at Biogenius science competition

Congratulations to Gavin Kerr from Colonel Gray High School in Charlottetown who has been awarded top honours at the Atlantic regionals of the Sanofi Biogenius Canada competition for his research project, “A Novel Approach to Bacterial Isolation for Drug Discovery" - aimed at providing a new resource for the discovery of novel bioactive natural products. Gavin's research was supported by his mentor, Brad Haltli, Researcher in the Department of Chemistry at UPEI. One of the country’s most prestigious science competitions, Sanofi Biogenius Canada pairs young students with academic mentors to pursue real-world research projects. Kerr will compete in the national competition in Ottawa in May. Guardian Newspaper article.
