NEW Fermentation and Downstream Processing Equipment Suite

In the fall of 2017, the BioAlliance unveiled a new suite of fermentation and downstream processing equipment for the scale-up/pilot scale manufacturing needs of the region’s biotechnology industry. The suite of equipment is located at Bioscience Manufacturing Incubator in Charlottetown.

Alpha Laval Separator

  • BREW 80

De Deitrch Glass/Line Reactor

  • Design conditions: Internal 150 psig, Jacket 125 psig

DME – 1250 litre dual jacket fermentation unit

Dominion & Grimm Reverse Osmosis Unit

  • 240-gallon system
  • Two standard industrial 40” membranes

Eppendorf BioFlo

  • 610 fermentor system
  • 125 litre (t/v)
  • Automated sterilization
  • pH, DO, Redox, Temperature, Agitation, Gas flow sensors

Pilot Spray Drying System

  • Processing capacity 5-20kg/hr @ 50% solid content
  • Evaporation rate 2-10kg/hr @ 150-320 degrees
  • Control system – Siemens PLC and touch screen HMI
