PEI Agriculture finds new high value specialty markets

The PEI BioAlliance is proud to support an announcement that the Governments of Canada and PEI are partnering together to invest more than $6 million towards construction of a local bio-refinery in Kensington, PEI. The investment will introduce new-to-Canada technology to process specialty oilseeds for the global market. A new 10,000 square foot facility with a bulk grain receiver, research lab and administration offices will be constructed in Kensington. Over the next five years this development is expected to create 19 full time positions and generate $5.4 million in annual farm gate receipts.
