The PEI BioAlliance is proud to support an announcement that the Governments of Canada and PEI are partnering together to invest more than $6 million towards construction of a local bio-refinery in Kensington, PEI. The investment will introduce new-to-Canada technology to process specialty oilseeds for the global market. A new 10,000 square foot facility with a bulk grain receiver, research lab and administration offices will be constructed in Kensington. Over the next five years this development is expected to create 19 full time positions and generate $5.4 million in annual farm gate receipts.

This is the first such agreement for the BRC with a private Canadian biotech company.
