The PEI BioAlliance conducted a pulse check on AI adoption across the cluster to gain a clearer picture as to how it is being used and to give bioscience companies an opportunity to identify their future needs.

The report illustrates that AI use is already widespread amongst PEI’s bioscience companies and that there is strong enthusiasm for experimentation. It also reports that more expertise is needed to realize AI’s full potential, with clear opportunities around governance, data readiness, workforce capability, and implementation support. This is consistent with the broader Canadian life sciences industry, where adoption is also moving quickly but data infrastructure, governance, and skills are working to keep pace.

The survey is useful in providing evidence for future discussions about the skills, infrastructure, expertise, and investment support that may be needed as AI adoption continues across PEI’s bioscience cluster.
